Mommy Knows Best

Mother's Day started off with the girls jumping in bed with me. Brooklyn exclaimed that she had a surprise for me and showed me my Mother's Day scrapbook. Scott was genius when he started it. Each year he writes a poem that includes things about that year of myself and the girls. He adds a hand print of them both and we put a picture of each mother's day in the scrapbook. Here was the pic from this year. B sometimes forgets how to smile, and that is just perfect because I will always remember this age by it! :)

Our church service was especially great. Keith, our preacher, gave a dynamic lesson on the story of Hannah in 1 Samuel. It has inspired me to be more diligent in my prayers to truly dedicate my children to the Lord. It is such an impactful story and if you haven't read it in a while, do it!!

After church we headed over to Harry and Sandy's to indulge in an amazing meal put together by Harry. It was incredible and we ended in death by chocolate cake. It was difficult to move afterwards! :)

On top of it being Mother's Day, it was also Scott's grandma's 87th birthday. Sandy had a great idea to have each member of the family write memories for Grandma and put them in a box together. Grandma struggles with dementia and has a difficult time with short and long-term memory. She enjoyed the box so much.
I love this picture. These are hands of a wise, God-fearing woman. Grandma has such a sweet spirit and has impacted others by truly being a woman of Proverbs 31.
Sandy is so much like her mother. She too is a giving person and lives with a heart full of compassion. Scott and I agree that her greatest trait is being able to go up to ANYONE in any situation. God has placed her working with hospice patients and families for a reason. Happy Mother's Day to my favorite MIL!!
And I can not go today without saying a special Mother's Day to my own incredible Mother. It has been a hard day to see everyone with their mothers and not share in that special bond of my own. My mother has a gift of encouragement. She has a way with words and will encourage myself and others with heart-felt letters. She has a gift in writing and has mountains of prayer journals that she kept when Alan and I were growing up. I never realized just how that dedication to prayer has impacted my life. She didn't pray because it was a last resort, she prayed because she had a deep understanding of the power of prayer. I am so thankful for all that she has done for both Alan and I. You are one fantabulous mother (and don't look up that word, because it won't be in the dictionary...if it were, my mothers picture would be next to it...:)
