Swimming Lessons= SUCCESS!

Last year we attempted swimming lessons. A bit of a bad experience. I wish that I had talked more to the swim instructor before that first lesson. Needless to say dunking my fearful daughter in the water within the first 5 minutes was not going to make you her best friend. Actually that first lesson was the first time I had ever heard B say anything negative about a person. She told me very matter of fact that she didn't like Mrs. ______ and that she knew how to swim so she was all done with lessons. We continued the lessons that week. She was miserable, I was miserable. Her instructor would ask her to do things and B would do everything she asked but cried the WHOLE time. I was pained that she was so unhappy but hoped it would get better. The lessons made her more fearful of swimming and we dropped the subject in hopes that the next summer would be a different story.
A new instructor, a private pool, a class with her very best buddy in all the world. We have a winner! Oh happy day! She was in a 2 week session and it was unbelievable the transformation!
I can't describe to you the love these girls have for each other. The look alike, talk alike, act alike. I am fascinated by their little conversations and am so thankful that B aligned her heart with such a precious friend. Not the best picture, but Mrs. Dana was the most patient person I have ever seen. EVER. I watched these kids try to get out of trying new things and she presented the ideas in different ways over and over again. And you know what, her teaching style worked for them. By the end of the two weeks B was completely comfortable in the water. Would swim with her face in the water (no goggles), could float on her back and the most important thing to me- would jump in the deep end and could swim to the side. I am a nervous wreck when it comes to pools and want my kids to be strong swimmers. Last year was such a bad experience that I was so thankful for such a turn of events!
Brooklyn was able to take swimming lessons also with her BFF's sister, Campbell. She was a fish in the water. I was so impressed by this girl.
Sweet RoRo. We adore this girl!I think Romy was concerned she was a goner. B became quite the floater.Mallory decided to join on in. Too bad she initially did this with her pants on. I found a swimmer diaper in my purse and she was stylin.
Would not have been a big deal except it was a Wednesday night, Scott and I were both teaching and it was VBS! So this was our bright idea.
Mallory wasn't sure what to make of her pants hanging out of the car!Verdict: It works! Maybe we started a new trend. If you see my car with clothing hanging out of every window, it's not an accident. We are just using our I-540 Cycle!
